Since yesterday, 10 July 2022, armed Amhara militia and members of the Amhara Regional Special Police have been gunning down members of Wollo Oromo community in Bate village of Jile Dhumuga district. While the brave members of the Wollo Oromo community have been trying to defend themselves against the onslaught, the marauders from the regional Special Police and Fanno militia appear to have been heavily armed. They have killed 9 civilians and wounded 25 so far. Regional security forces are also denying wounded civilians seeking medical attention. We have not received reports of heavy fighting around Ataye town of Erfatana Gidim. Our reports indicate that Amhara Special Forces are preparing for another attack in the environs of Ataye town
The Fanno-Amhara Special Force coalition has not hitherto engaged with our forces in the region. Reports of such engagement are untrue and deceptive.
